He trended on Twitter for days, with fans mocking him for attempting to take after cross-dressers like James Brown and Bobrisky while other fans implored him to publicly admit his sexuality.
Though the self-acclaimed reincarnation of Fela in a media engagement with Ebuka Obi Uchendu on the Rubbing minds show has explained his reasons for appearing in such controversial wear.
The artist maintained that putting on the female wear, is a form of brand identity as a mean via which African culture can be promoted.
“This is my own way of being unique, every artiste has a way of being identified. This is mine to promote African culture,” Shmurda said.
