Organisers of the prestigious Headies Awards have announced the disqualification of street pop singer Portable.

The music award organiser took to their official social media platforms to announce the disqualification of the Zazu crooner and also included why they reached the decision.

Their statement reads:

“Singer Portable loses Headies award nomination following controversy and investigation by the Nigeria Police Force, after allegedly claiming to be affiliated with the criminal group “1 million boys.”

“The music industry demands all-round excellence, and it is extremely important for young artists being potential role models to exude professional responsibility, proper decorum and have respect for others.

The reason for this disqualification was as a result of his alleged affiliation to the notorious criminal group ‘1 million boys.”

The organisers also called the attention to the fact that the singer in a video has threatened the organisers of the award stating that if the award wasn’t given to him he would harm other nominees in the same categories he had been nominated for.

These were two key factors that played a crucial role in the decision of the Headies Awards.
