Ondo State Governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu received on Wednesday, a delegation of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), who came to pay a condolence visit to his office, in Akure, Ondo State capital.

The delegation comprises members from Ondo and Oyo States, as well as the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA).

The team, ably led by the NBA Chairman, Owo branch, Mr Olabode Aganun specifically condemned the gruesome massacre of worshippers on June 5th, 2022, in Owo, Ondo State.

The lawyers applauded Governor Akeredolu for the establishment of the Amotekun regional security outfit in the southwest region, to secure the lives and properties of the people in the zone.

“The huge impact of Amotekun has really been shown here. They have been doing their best in terms of security, especially securing lives and properties.” He added.

They suggested true federalism adding that more powers and responsibilities should be concentrated to the States.

“federal government has been enjoying full concentration, which has left states with less concentration which reflects no true federalism.”

The lawyers also maintained that a strong relationship between the governments of the States and federal will go a long way in sustaining the security architecture of Nigeria.

Aganun said those injured and their families must be well compensated.

He also informed that plans are on course to name the first national secretariat of the association in Abuja after Governor Akeredolu who exhuded selfless service as the NBA President.

Akeredolu appreciated the delegation for the visit, added that all hand are deck to track the perpetrators of the evil act.

He further noted that no effort will be spared in ensuring the protection of lives and properties of the citizens.
