Residents of Effurun community in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State on Sunday were seen scampering for safety after gunmen shot dead a policeman on a motorcycle and escaped with the service rifles on him.
Eye witnesses said the motorcycle rider was also injured in the incident, which occurred around 11am.
The deceased policeman was carrying two rifles, one for himself and the other for a colleague who was not on duty at that moment.
Passersby and onlookers took their heels during the attack to avert being caught up with the ugly incident.
