The Director of Public Prosecutions of the Federation, Mohammed Abubakar, last week secured a court judgment  which declared bandits as terrorists. What do you make of this?

Was there any legal impediment to dealing with these criminals before the judgment? Was there? I don’t think there was any. Therefore, it really doesn’t matter or make any difference. However, it is a welcome development because of its significance.  If there is anybody who is in doubt as to the status of these criminals (bandits and kidnappers), such a person will have a rethink because they have carried so many acts of terrorism and atrocities. I would rather say that if there is a worst word for them they should be called that . So whoever is having any shred of doubt as to the kind of people they are because people tend to give excuses for their activities, such a person should have a rethink. These are people who have killed hapless and innocent Nigerians, somebody who rapped, abducted and collected ransom from indigent Nigerians and completely dehumanised an average human being. This cut across the various socio-economic strata of Nigerian society and demography. What I mean by demography, is that even the elderly, women and children were not spared. I am sure you remember the different school abductions; Kankara Science Secondary school boys, Kagara and Yawuri, among others.
