The Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPC, Mele Kyari, has said petrol will sell for not less than 320 or 340 naira per litre by 2022.


Kyari who stated that the country will be totally ejected from the era of subsidy in the 1st quarter of 2022, further reiterated that subsidy would have been gotten rid of but for some situations preventing such.

He however said the government is willing to alleviate poverty by doling out Five Thousand Naira to 40 million Nigerians, thereby reaching out to 40 percent of Nigeria’s 200 million population. This will operate parripassou with subsidy removal.

This, Kyari dropped as hint on Tuesday while speaking at the presentation of the World Bank Nigeria Development Update, November 2021 edition titled “Time for Business Unusual” in Abuja.

According to Kyari, fuel subsidy removal would be achieved in 2022 as it now has the backing of the law.
