President Buhari’s Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has said the leaked report of the Lagos State panel as fake.
Reacting on Tuesday in Abuja, at a press conference, Mohammed said the report as fake and a hoax.
The nine-member panel had in its report alleged that at least nine persons were killed at the Lekki toll plaza when soldiers and policemen stormed the scene to disperse protesters on October 20, 2020.
He stated that the report circulating in social media cannot be relied upon, saying the document was full of discrepancies and errors.
He also described the allegations as “tales by moonlight”.
Mohammed also knocked the panel for compiling allegations made by Nigerians and submitted them as a report to the Lagos state government, adding that the panel failed to investigate the claims of police brutality.
The minister added that the Lagos judicial panel failed to address some of the issues raised by a ballistic expert that testified before it and the testimonies of the Nigerian Army.
