As at now, there is heavy security at the Federal High Court in Abuja. This is as the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra appears in court in continuation of his trial.

Men of the Nigerian Army, Police Force and DSS, were seen guarding the entrances to the court, as they also survey the streets leading to the court building. This might be in order to prevent against any interference or obstruction of Court’s processes, considering the sensitivity of the case.

Journalists yet to be accredited were not allowed to move any close to the Court’s premises.

The members of staff working with the court were commissioned to queue, were searched before being allowed to enter into the premises of the court.

Earlier in June, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu was brought to face trial. This was after he jumped bail in 2017. He has been detained in DSS custody since then.

He will now be re-arraigned on a 7 Count Charge, as against the earlier Five Count Charge he was previously seeing to. The charges border on treasonable felony and terrorism.
