Actor Chinwetalu Agu has been reportedly flown to Abuja by the men of the Department of State Services. This was as part of the investigational move following his promoting and publicly parading proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB. He was alleged of inciting the public.

He was first apprehended by the Nigerian Army on the 7th day of October, 2021, around Upper Iweka in Onitsha, Anambra State. He was caught putting on Biafra outfit while doing charity.

The Army alleged him of soliciting support for the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra. This was an organisation accused of several terrorism acts.

He was later committed to the DSS for investigation and prosecution.

A relative of his disclosed how he had be shut out of circulation. His relatives have all been denied access to him.

The relative who prefer being anonymous disclosed how he was flown from Anambra to Enugu and later Abuja.

Attempts to see him in Abuja were vehemently rejected.

“We spent two days trying to ascertain his whereabouts. We were later informed that he was moved to Enugu and then Abuja.

“We heard that the idea is to move him away from the South-East. We have made efforts to see him, but the DSS has not granted us access. Even the lawyers have not been allowed to reach him,” the relative said.

Attempts to also get through to Peter Afunanya proved abortive as he was rejecting calls. A text message is yet to be replied as at the time of filing this report.

Agu, who has starred in several movies, including ‘Rattlesnake: The Ahanna Story’, which is now showing on Netflix, has been a known supporter of the Biafra struggle.

He has also been critical of the regime of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), for allegedly marginalising the Igbo.
