The giant strides being traced to Professor Olugbenga Ige, the newly appointed Vice Chancellor, Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko has started attracting encomiums from the general public.

The latest of such came in the likeness of an award of excellence bestowed on him for his unbeatable strides in the educational sector. It has the beautiful caption, “Award of Ondo State Pillar of Education of the Year 2020.”

The award was according to reports given on merit by Hero Magazine International.

He was honoured alongside other eminent Ondo personalities at the annual Ondo State award for outstanding leaders. The prestigious award came under the platform of Hero Magazine. It happened on Sunday, the 12th day of September, 2012 at the Dome International Event Centre, Akure.

Dr. Sunday Akinbiola, the convener and Publisher of the magazine described Olugbenga Ige as a shining force in the state’s educational sector. One to be reckoned with.

The awardees are according to the convener eminently qualified for what they were given, having been so distinguished with their activities in their different sectors.

He said, “All our awardees for this 14th edition of award event were meritoriously selected. They are individuals who have made and still making positive impact on their immediate and extended environments. And with this honour done on them, they have become ambassadors of Ondo State.”

Ige while responding to the honour accorded him just immediately after he was decorated by the Deputy Governor, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa eulogized the Hero Magazine for recognising his little contribution to the advancement of education in not just Ondo State but Nigeria.

He promised to continually lead his university in the right direction by setting the pace for others.
