NANS Credits Institution For Reinstating Student Unionism After Eight Years Of Suspension

The Management of the College of Health Sciences and Technology, Ijero Ekiti has according to reports been credited by the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS.

This is owing to its deeming it fit to get Unionism reinstated on its campus. The union got suspended at the college in 2013 and the recent lift of the suspension was said to have attracted the attention of Olanrewaju Olamide, the NANS Chairman in Ekiti.

Olamide in his speech reacted to the election of the student Union conducted in the school on the 8th of September.

One Victor Osadare was said to have won the kinly contested election, having polled 506 votes to defeat his opponent, one Damilola Oyejide, who polled just 298 votes.

The Ekiti NANS Chairman vouched for the leadership qualities of the incumbent Provost, Dr. Cecilia Adebayo. He said the union and its executives will thrive in her time.

He commended the efforts of the Deputy Provost, Kayode Abolarin; Dean, Students Affairs, Michael Adewumi; as well as the college’s Electoral Board Members for the successful conduct of the election.

He consolidated the level of transparency brought to bare in the conduct of the election. This allowed students to exercise the non transferable right to vote and be voted for.

Olamide also commended the outgoing caretaker executives of the students union for the selfless services rendered during their administration.

The new executives will be inaugurated on September 14.
