Ilara Mokin people got shocked at the sudden collapse of the bridge very close to Chief Olisa Omole’s house on the 4th of September, 2020.
The bridge which was brought down by the heavy flood was said to have been there for so many years. It collapsed owing to the overwhelming force of the rain that fell on Friday and Saturday respectively.
The natural disaster which has now prevented motorists from using the road appears to have adversely affected the business, movement of residents who are yet to recover from a robbery incident that occurred in the area previously.
A source confirmed how the incident occurred shortly after Ilara people who were in the bubbling spirit of the Yam Festival went past the road on Thursday. It never occurred for the whole of Thursday but until Friday afternoon.
The incident happened in the afternoon of Friday when most women and students have gone to the market and schools respectively. And the men to their farms.
The source who apart from being at home has been suspecting the possible collapse of the bridge. A woman was said to have actually used the bridge shortly before it came down. She was holding her children.
The incidence called the attention of a university owner and philanthropist, Chief Ade Ojo, popular for the sobriquet, Elizade. Ade Ojo is an indigene of Ilara Mokin, in Ondo State. He is the proprietor of Elizade University.
Ojo who immediately spoke with a road contractor in order to inspect the level of damages done proceeded to bankroll them in order to start work on the bridge, including the culvert constructed on Isokun River.
Isokun River is in the direction of the road leading to the Comprehensive Health Centre, Ilara. He has mandated the fix of the bad portions without any further delay.
