A first-class traditional ruler saddled one of the chiefdoms in the Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Danjuma Barde has reportedly kicked the bucket.
The monarch who died on Wednesday at the Nigerian Army Referral Hospital, Kaduna was said to have suffered from a serious ailment.
The news of his demise on Wednesday was broken via Peter Aboki, the President of the Gbagyi Development Association. This development came shortly after he was reportedly promoted to the first-class cadre as king, and by the incumbent government of the state.
“Yes we lost our traditional ruler, he has been having some health challenges. He died in the early hours of today, at 44, Army hospital,” Aboki said.
Governor Nasir El-Rufai who changed the name of his town from Gbagyi to Chikun, also reviewed the title of the monarch, he replaced “Sai Gbagyi” with “Etsu Chikun”.
This was despite the massive agitation of the indigenous people of the chiefdom who hold the opinion that such action of the governor is capable of distorting their collective history.
