Zamfara State House of Assembly, including the chief Judge of the state have been jointly barred by Justice Egwuatu of the Abuja Federal High Court. This is in the bid of the court to stop them from getting Alli Mahd Gusau, the Deputy Governor of the state impeached.
The impeachment process was said to have been the aftermath of the Deputy’s refusal to decamp with his superior to APC. This was said to have been brewing tension and issues in the state, the impeachment process started against the governor was confirmed to be an act of persecution against him for choosing to remain with the PDP.
The court while ruling on the Exparte motion filed through the lawyer to the Deputy Governor, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, was said to have stated in very clear terms that the applicant holds a very serious apprehension of the impeachment process. He pleaded the court to stop the entire process.
The Chief justice was also barred from constituting any panel to look into the allegations against Gusau, pending the determination of the motion on notice before the court.
Other defendants in the matter are Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), APC, the Senate President, the Speaker of House of Representatives, Speaker of Zamfara House of Assembly and Governor Bello Matawalle.
