A former Adviser to President Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, Mr. Doyin Okupe has taken to his Twitter page to challenge the incumbent governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike.
He said they aren’t contemporaries who can be said to be standing shoulder to shoulder in politics. Okupe believes he has the right to caution derailing members of the People’s Democratic Party, considering his records and strides as a senior member of the party.
This was a followup to a recent attack on Prince Uche Secondus, the national chairman of the People’s Democratic Party.
Okupe in his words said “I believe I have the right and the merit to call our members to order irrespective of their status in the party,” Okupe said in a statement he shared on Twitter.
Okupe who further mentioned those who can measure up to him in Rivers, attests to the unbeatable political leadership of Peter Odili, Rufus Ada George. He saw Wike, the incumbent governor of the state as a minimally junior colleague in politics, who should be mentored.
“For a fact, my own contemporaries in the political hierarchy of Rivers State are former Govs Rufus Ada George and Peter Odili. So I am a senior and leader to our indefatigable Gov Wike politically.
“Therefore, I consider it a duty to intervene at this juncture,” he said.
