Yoruba Nation activist, Sunday Adeyemo Igboho has challenged the invasion and raid of his residence by the men of the Department of State Security, DSS.
Punch released that the activist challenged the gross vandalism visited on his house, including its invasion in the dead of the night by the DSS. They, apart from doing all these raided, killed and arrested his aides.
Chief Yomi Aliyu (SAN), who engaged the media on the development attests that Igboho had filed an action before the Federal High Court in Abuja. The action according to him, is to the effect of the immediate release of the 13 detained aides.
Aliyu, who reiterated the cry of Igboho’s media aide on the deliberate access deprived the detained comrades to their lawyers, has refused to unveil the details of the suit.
Asked what step he was taking to ensure their release, Aliyu said, “We have filed an action before a Federal High Court in Abuja concerning their bail. We filed it today.”
You will recall that men of the Department of State Security paid an unexpected visit to the Soka residence of Igboho around 1:30am, on the 1st July, 2021. This was following the intelligence report that he had been stockpiling arms.
They confirmed the termination of two lives, including the arrest of thirteen of his aides. They paraded the pictures of firearms recovered from the building, though vehemently denied by Igboho.
In the same vein, the Ilana Omo Oduduwa promised to effect the release of the protesters arrested during the Lagos version of the Yoruba Nation rally.
The spokesman for the group, Maxwell Adeleye, said “We know that they have been in police custody for so many days now but our lawyers are working to ensure their release.
“I don’t want to say what we are doing but I can assure you that they will be freed very soon because they did not commit any crime.”
