Another heavy duty truck has reportedly crashed at the front of the university’s first gate, Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba. This is despite the fatal accident that happened around January, at the same scene.
This fatal accident was said to have claimed dozens of lives and had also led to the barricade erected at the entrance to the university town. This barricade was said to have been consistently tampered with by the heavy-duty trucks, barred from plying the Federal road.
A Facebook user, by the name “Oshk Fela Castro,” reiterated the need to call the attention of the newly appointed Vice Chancellor, including the Chairman of the Area Council, to the need to find a lasting solution to the incessant accidents occurring on that road.
“I posted about this road three days ago in which I called upon Gov. Akeredolu and Hon. Oloruntogbe to investigate why trailers are still plying this road when there’s barricade along Akungba-Ikare road.
“The Information I heard was that some guys are using the barricade to make money from motorists in day and night.
“Gov. Akeredolu and Hon. Oloruntogbe must act faster on this before another serious accident will occur there, although, I don’t pray for this. But prevention is better than cure,” he said.
It is yet to be confirmed as at the time of compiling this report, if any life was lost. But the operatives of the Federal Road Safety Corps were already at the venue to do the necessary.
