Omolafe Aderiye, an Honourable member representing Akure North and South Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, has credited the newly announced Vice-Chancellor of the first state university in Ondo State, Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba – Akoko.

Omolafe in a statement he signed in person, lauded the appointment of the Adekunle Ajasin University Professor by Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu. This is according to him a bold move amidst the competitive jostle for the top seat of the premier university.

He said, “Your appointment is a further testimony of your resilience, determination and tenacity of purpose.

“I hope you will bring with you, your wealth of experience and broad knowledge to the university and to the benefits of Ondo State and humanity,” Omolafe said.

Prof. Olugbenga E. Ige holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons.) degree in Botany from the University of Benin in 1984. He proceeded to the Nigeria’s Premier University, the University of Ibadan, where he bagged a Master of Science degree in Botany in the year 1993 and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Botany with specialisation in Palynology & Palaeoecology in 2004. As a teacher and researcher, Prof. Ige has taught in various institutions in Nigeria.

Omolafe said, “The good people of Akure North local government, your home town, Ita-Ogbolu, and Ondo State are proud of your achievements.

“I am super proud of you and your uncommon exploits in the field of Botany. Congratulations!” the federal lawmaker concluded.
