Atiku Bagudu, the incumbent governor of Kebbi State has confirmed that nothing less than 97 bodies have been recovered so far from the disaster tallying with a capsized boat in Kebbi State at Warra, Ngaski Local Government Area of the state.
Bagudu revealed this in Birnin Kebbi on playing host to some members of the House of Representatives, who came to pay him as the governor of the state a condolence visit. This was following the capsized boat conveying traders, artisanal Miners and other passengers between Lokon Minna and Warra Ngaski. Passengers numbering 167 were said to be conveyed by the boat on May 27.
The 76 passengers recovered on the 29th of May, were buried immediately, while 22 others were rescued alive. The number just increased to 97.
The governor appreciated the members representing the Green Chamber, he as well lauded them for showing concern to the safety of Nigerians traveling via waterways. He extended his appreciation to the Speaker of the house, Femi Gbajabiamila. He has shown love, condolences and compassion according to him.
The delegation also paid the same visit to the palace of the Emir of Yauri, Muhammadu Zayyanu-Abdullahi.
