No fewer than 88 lives were taken in the pre-planned attack on some surrounding communities to Danko Wasuga Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The police spokesperson, Nafiu Abubakar, said the toll may geometrically increase as many people are yet to be accounted for in the attack.
More operatives of the Nigerian Police were said to have been deployed to the area as at the time the interview was granted.
Mr. Abubakar confessed that the incidence occurred on Thursday in the communities, at the boundary between Kebbi, Zamfara and Niger State.
Some of the affected communities are Koro, Kimpi, Gaya, Dimi, Zutu, Rafin Gora and Iguenge all of which he described as difficult to access from Kebbi State.
It is saddening that many persons are yet to be claimed, not even when the lucky inhabitants have been forced to escape. This was despite the “Operation Ganuwa” launched by the Nigerian Police to resist the armed bandits, infiltrating the state from neighbouring ones.
The bandits have no known enclave in Kebbi State according to him, “but usually came from Zamfara and Niger states and flee back to their bases after carrying our attacks.”
